Accomplishment Review & Phase II Meeting

Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the daily grind and forget the good things happening in our own communities. Often, there is success right in front of us, but we are too busy to see it, or not aware of what success looks like. Tomorrow, May 25, Community Capitalism will try to slow down for an hour or so to celebrate the successes of more than a year of grassroots community efforts. Many people worked diligently to make sure that their own communities, and Licking County as a whole, continue to prosper. Please consider joining Licking County Community Capitalism at its Accomplishment Review/Phase II meeting on Tuesday, May 25 at 7:00 p.m. at C-Tec's Adult Education Center (Rm. 4005) to celebrate community success and preview the good work to come. C-Tec is located at 150 Price Road, Newark, Ohio 43055.

Steering Committee Meeting on May 5 at La Paloma

The Steering Committee will gather again on May 5 at La Paloma in downtown Newark at 4:30 p.m. to finish up its mission and vision statements and accomplishment report to date. The Steering Committee has recently decided that Community Capitalism will be moving into a new phase, 2.0, and in this new phase, will meet with all working groups at least twice per year. Working groups will also be asked to report back to the Steering Committee all relevant news and information on a quarterly basis, if not sooner.
The Steering Committee will serve as the information conduit for Community Capitalism 2.0 and its working groups. The Steering Committee will also function as the asset inventory manager while we explore our strengths and weaknesses in all Licking County cities, townships, and municipalities. Some of this work has already been completed, but some of it needs to be refined and reflected upon for Community Capitalism's purposes.
Please feel free to contact Cindy Zaino with any and all questions regarding the Steering Committee. We are open to ideas and suggestions.

Steering Committee Meeting on April 14 at C-TEC

The Community Capitalism Steering Committee will meet again on Wednesday, April 14 at 4:15 p.m. in the C-TEC library. This meeting will last for approximately one hour.

Education Community Support Group

The Licking County Community Capitalism Education Support Group is always busy finding new ways to reach out to community groups and taxpayers to explain the value of public education. This May, there will be at least five school levies on the ballot. These will include: C-TEC, Lakewood, Heath, Northridge, and Southwest Licking Local Schools. The Education Community Support Group reaches out to the individual districts and their levy campaigns to provide needed assistance and support. This may come in the form of door to door campaigning, phone calls, mailings, or other assistance. The purpose is to mend relationships between communities and schools and provide more opportunities for all Licking County residents.

Education Support Group Meeting this Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

The Community Capitalism Education Community Support Group will be meeting this THURSDAY, March 11, in the Sleight Room on OSU campus, at 6p.m.

(At our last meeting we scheduled Wed, March 10, but the Sleight Room is not available that day.)

Quick Overview of Last Meeting with Rob Montagnese CEO of Licking Memorial
-Rob feels that LMH shares their value message with the community through grassroot efforts of word of mouth.
He encourages his employees and especially the leaders to get involved in community groups.

-In order to get, The Advocateto be more supportive he said they did a couple things.
1. Started advertising with them more. 2. Invited their publisher to be on one of the boards or committees at the hospital.

-Rob also said the value message began internally.
He tries to get to know staff and show them they are valuable by giving awards and having special activities for them.
Ex. Dinner with the Stars, Breakfast with Rob, etc.

We look forward to seeing as many folks as possible at the meeting on Thursday!

Steering Committee Forming

Licking County Community Capitalism is entering a new phase: Community Capitalism 2.0. Some of the goals in entering this new phase are to reflect on the accomplishments of Community Capitalism in Licking County in the last year, and decide what the vision will be moving forward. Thus far, the Steering Committee is made up of one or two inspired members from each of the original working groups. These members will bring their ideas to the table to help construct the vision, and eventually the mission statement for CC 2.0. The Steering Committee would like to find a long-term, workable infrastructure for CC 2.0. The next meeting of the Steering Committee is Monday, February 22 at 4:15 p.m. in the Sleight Room on the campus of Ohio State University - Newark.
